Preparing for a spiritual consultation does not mean finding a perfect way to describe your life. It means deciding what you want to discuss, what information you are comfortable sharing and which questions you need answered before paying for a service.
For people enquiring from South Africa or abroad, a short written brief can make the first conversation clearer. Use the worksheet below to organise your thoughts without disclosing unnecessary personal information.
1. Describe one concern in your own words
Begin with a few factual sentences about what has happened and what you would like to understand. Separate events you observed from explanations you are considering. For example, “We have stopped talking since an argument” describes an event. “Someone must have placed a spell on us” is an interpretation that a consultation should not treat as an established fact.
You do not need to tell your entire history in an initial message. Choose one concern and explain why it matters now. This gives you a clearer starting point and helps you decide whether the practitioner’s approach suits your needs.
2. Choose a goal that respects personal choice
Useful goals concern your own decisions: reflecting on a relationship, understanding a tradition, setting personal boundaries or preparing for a respectful conversation. A practitioner cannot promise another person’s love, consent or return.
Write down what a helpful discussion would leave you able to do. “I want to decide whether to ask for a conversation” is more realistic than expecting certainty about someone else’s future behaviour.
3. Decide what to keep private
Ask what information is necessary, why it is requested, how it will be used and who can access it. You can begin by describing your situation without sending intimate photographs, identification documents, banking information or another person’s private messages.
A request for privacy is not a promise of absolute secrecy. Read the privacy policy and ask about its practical application and any limits before sharing sensitive details. Obtain permission before sending information about someone else, and never share account passwords or verification codes.
4. Clarify the service and the total cost
Before agreeing to proceed, ask what the consultation includes, its duration, the delivery method and the fee. Ask whether any follow-up or additional work costs extra. Request the cancellation and refund terms in writing rather than assuming a particular policy applies.
You should have time to read the explanation. If the scope changes, ask for the revised description and cost before making another decision. Do not treat a payment request as evidence that a spiritual explanation is true.
5. Prepare questions about the approach
- Which tradition or approach informs the consultation?
- What will happen during the session?
- Can I decline a practice that conflicts with my beliefs or comfort?
- What can you reasonably help me explore, and what is outside your service?
- What information should I avoid sending?
- What are the agreed fee, follow-up arrangements and cancellation terms?
Different traditions have different meanings and practices. Ask for an explanation in plain language rather than assuming that all spiritual guidance follows the same system.
6. Use this short first-enquiry template
Hello. I would like to enquire about a spiritual consultation. My main concern is [brief factual description]. I would like help reflecting on [your own goal]. Before booking, please explain your approach, what the session includes, the total fee, privacy arrangements and cancellation terms. My preferred contact method and time zone are [details].
This is an optional example, not a requirement to disclose personal details. For a remote session, confirm the appointment time in both time zones and whether a phone, video or messaging format is available.
Take time to decide
You may pause, ask further questions or decline. Threats, pressure to pay immediately or claims of guaranteed control over another person are reasons to stop. Spiritual guidance can be a personal or cultural practice; it does not establish supernatural claims as facts and is not a substitute for qualified medical, psychological, legal or financial support.
To make an enquiry, send a private enquiry through the contact page and ask for the details above before booking. Keep your first message brief and share only what is needed to establish whether the service is appropriate for you.
